Report: Kamaz says 1 week of downtime costs 2 bln rbl

MOSCOW, Apr 7 (PRIME) -- The previous week, when Russia’s largest truck producer Kamaz had to suspend production under a presidential decree, cost the company 2 billion rubles, CEO Sergei Kogogin said in an interview to Rossiya 24 television channel broadcast late on Monday.

“One week of downtime means 2 billion rubles of losses. We are not different from others. It is very expensive to be idle, and the company’s economy would crumble if we had to continue it. We have to work and to make money. We started doing that today, and the amount of companies that supply component parts to us today in the country is gigantic. There are hundreds of companies that have also launched the production process today,” he said.

The company relaunched production under all sanitary guidelines of the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare Oversight, it has done everything possible to ensure safety of employees, he said.
